Free to Teach (FTT) is an initiative of the Commonwealth Foundation that empowers teachers in Pennsylvania to create the best possible environment for themselves and their students. Too often, teachers’ feel like their hands are tied by mandates or union rules. Our mission is to help teachers navigate these situations in order to succeed in their personal and professional life.
At FTT we work to shed light on issues facing teachers and to provide information, resources, and options. Beyond that, we provide a network to connect teachers across the state that share the same concerns so that we can learn from each other.
For information on government policies and union rules and regulations, check out Get the Facts. Here you can find anything from information on the current pension crisis to a step-by-step guide on how to leave your union.
To hear personal stories of what other teachers in Pennsylvania are currently dealing with, head over to the Teachers’ Lounge.
If you have your own story to tell, click on Share Your Story to inspire other teachers in the Commonwealth and connect with our staff.
